SAIO Full Form in Medical

What is the Full Form of SAIO in Medical?

The Full Form of SAIO in Medical term is Subacute Intestinal Obstruction. In contrast to acute obstructions, which totally block the digestive tract, SAIO is an incomplete obstruction of the intestines that interferes with the normal passage of materials through the digestive tract. Because some fluids and gasses can still get through, SAIO is seen as less serious than an acute obstruction; however, it still needs to be treated to avoid being completely blocked. There are two kinds of this obstruction: functional and mechanical. Intussusception, polypoid tumors, neoplasms, strictures, stenosis, as well as adhesions can all contribute to the state of mechanical blockage. The muscles inside the abdomen region begin to cause problems when functional blockages emerge.

Symptoms of SAIO:

  • Stomach cramping is a common symptom of intermittent stomach pain, which can vary in severity.
  • Bloating & distension: A sensation of fullness and obvious abdominal swelling brought on by gas accumulation.
  • Vomiting and nausea: Particularly when the upper intestine is obstructed.
  • Changed bowel habits or constipation: Some individuals may have diarrhea as a result of the obstruction, while others may have infrequent bowel movements.
  • Incapacity to pass gas: Happens in the cases of greater severity, because of intestinal blockage.
