What is EVA Full Form in Medical?
The EVA full form in medical term is External Vaginal Atrophy. EVA is a term that describes thinning, drying, and inflammation of vaginal tissues that arises through deficiency in estrogen levels in the body. This often results during the course of menopause. Symptoms may include dryness, irritation, and discomfort while coitus and symptoms related to urinary tract involvement. Vaginal Atrophy which is also known as Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause affects a large number of postmenopausal women.
Symptoms of EVA:
Women with EVA can have many symptoms, including vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, itching, burning sensations, having to urinate more frequently and urgently, and in some instances, urinary tract infection. These symptoms can greatly interfere with a woman’s quality of life, causing emotional distress, as well as physical discomfort.
Treatment of EVA:
The treatment for EVA usually consists of estrogen therapy whether it is applied topically in creams, tablets, or rings or administered in the form of systemic estrogen therapy. This therapy aims at restoration of vaginal moisture, improvement in elasticity, and the relief of discomfort. Other management includes the use of vaginal moisturizers and lubricants for temporary relief as well as pelvic floor exercises to improve muscle tone and support. In more severe cases, it would require additional medications or other treatments.
