TLC Full Form in Medical

What is TLC Full Form in Medical?

The TLC Full Form in Medical term is Total leukocyte count. The total number of white blood cells, or leukocytes, in a specific volume of blood is measured by this test and is typically stated as cells per microliter or per liter. An essential part of a complete blood count, the total leukocyte count is used to evaluate the health of a person’s immune system.

Purpose of determining the TLC value:

Because the body makes more white blood cells to fight off infections, a high TLC may be a sign of an infection. On the other hand, a low TLC can indicate a compromised immunological response. Variations in white blood cell counts can also result from autoimmune diseases or inflammatory disorders. To assess the efficacy of treatment and the patient’s immunological status, TLC is frequently monitored in patients receiving treatment for a variety of illnesses, including cancer or those receiving immunosuppressive medicines. Since the bone marrow produces white blood cells, aberrant TLC results could point to underlying problems with bone marrow function.

Total leukocyte count in human body:

Between 4,000 to 11,000 white blood cells per microliter of blood is the usual range for a TLC test. Normal TLC values for men are often slightly higher than those for women, ranging from 5000 to 10,000 WBCs per microliter of blood. In females, the typical TLC range is 4500–11000 WBCs per microliter of blood. Individual differences could happen, though, and different labs may have somewhat different reference ranges.
