IVDP Full Form in Medical

What is the Full Form of IVDP in Medical?

The Full Form of IVDP in Medical term is Intervertebral Disc Prolapse. The fibrocartilage cushion known as the intra-vertebral disc (IVD) divides between the vertebrae within the human spine. Its purpose is to allow the spine to move smoothly and absorb trauma. Intervertebral disc prolapse (IVDP) is a painful disorder that can occur when the IVD weakens. When the vertebrae press against one another, IVDP happens, causing pain, decreased movement, and trouble carrying out daily tasks.

What is the cause of IVDP?

This disorder develops when aging or trauma weakens or damages one or more of the discs that separate two vertebrae. Due to the discs pressing against one another as a result of the damage, the affected area experiences pain and limited motion. Additional discomfort and pain may result from disc fragments breaking apart and moving to different areas of the body.

Several possible causes include underlying diseases like osteoporosis or arthritis, injuries sustained from repetitive motion or abrupt force on the spine, as well as birth defects that deteriorate the discs in our spines from an early age.

How IVDP can be cured?

There are treatments for IVPD that can reduce the intensity and duration of the manifestations that accompany this condition. Conservative treatments are typically customized to meet the needs of the patient and include rest, anti-inflammatory drugs, physical therapy, heat/ice treatment, adjustments in the chiropractor, and massage therapy. Depending on the diagnosis, surgery may be suggested in more severe situations; however, this is not something to think about until all other alternatives have been tried.
